This stunner came together from two completely unexpected pieces — a pair of fantastic vintage taffeta curtains and the bodice from a 1990s wedding gown. Somehow, they were a match made in heaven.
The curtains gave me an incredible amount of fabric to work with, allowing me to create a truly statement skirt. With its generous volume, dramatic train and beautiful tulle underskirt, this skirt was made to be noticed. Finished with a high waistband, it brings all that volume into a beautifully defined silhouette.
The pearled corset began life as the bodice of a vintage 1990s wedding dress. It needed some serious reworking to transform it into the lace-up-back corset I had in mind. Hours of careful re-beading went into bringing the beautiful pearl detailing back to life — but it was absolutely worth every minute.
The finished gown is all about contrast, craftsmanship and drama.
Elegant, extravagant and completely unexpected, LA PERLE is a gown that deserves attention. Whether worn as bridal, a ball gown or simply because you want to make an entrance — this is definitely a show stopper.
